The mountain range is the only example in Poland of mountains built of horizontally laid rocky layers, hence the name: „Table mountains”. Those sandstones and marls created 100 millions years ago at the bottom of the sea.
The highest part of the range makes Szczeliniec Wielki (919 meters) with its fantastic rocky shapes and that’s the main goal of today’s trip. The hiking tour will takes us roughly 2,5-3 hours. The path starts in a village of Karłów and the first part is a several hundred stairs leading us to a shelter where you can rest and drink the best hot chocolate ever! And then the fun part starts – we will enter a rocky labyrinth, where you will find a camel, a hen, hell and heaven, a horse and much more!
For sure it will be a memorable trip and after hiking we will take you to discover a pilgrims place in Wambierzyce. In a small village you can find impressive church, surrounded by several dozen of calvary’s chapels. Each of them shows a scene from Bible. We will see also a curiosity which is a scene of Nativity made of moving parts.
We recommend the tour for those who like hiking and mountains and are interested in local history and culture.
